Thailand, known as the “Land of Smiles,” is a vibrant Southeast Asian destination famous for its rich culture, stunning beaches, and bustling cities. From the lively streets and ornate temples of Bangkok to the tropical islands of Phuket and Krabi, Thailand offers a perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and cultural exploration.
Day 1: Arrival in Bangkok
Arrive at Suvarnabhumi International Airport and be met by our representative. Transfer to your hotel on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. Bangkok – known to Thais as Krung Thep, the City of Angels – is one of Asia’s most extraordinary cities: a 24-hour metropolis where golden temples stand beside gleaming skyscrapers, where tuk-tuks weave through endless streams of traffic, and where the Chao Phraya River carries long-tail boats, rice barges, ferries, and luxury dinner cruises through the heart of the city.
After check-in, spend the remainder of the day at leisure settling into the atmosphere of Thailand’s vibrant capital. In the evening, enjoy a dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya River – one of the finest introductions to Bangkok. Glide past floodlit temples, historic landmarks, luxury riverside hotels, and lively waterfront communities while enjoying Thai cuisine and live entertainment against the backdrop of the city skyline. Overnight in Bangkok.
Day 2: Grand Palace, Wat Pho & Wat Arun
After breakfast, begin your exploration of Bangkok’s extraordinary historic district with a guided visit to the magnificent Grand Palace – the most dazzling architectural complex in Thailand. Behind its high white walls lies a world of gilded rooftops, mirrored mosaics, sacred courtyards, and richly decorated royal halls. Within the palace grounds stands Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, home to Thailand’s most sacred Buddhist image.
Continue to nearby Wat Pho, one of Bangkok’s oldest and most beautiful temple complexes, famous for the enormous 46-metre Reclining Buddha covered in gold leaf. The temple is also regarded as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage, and visitors may enjoy an authentic Thai massage within the temple grounds after the visit.
In the late afternoon, cross the Chao Phraya River by local ferry to Wat Arun, the iconic Temple of Dawn. Its porcelain-covered central spire rises dramatically above the river and offers panoramic views across the historic old city. As sunset approaches, the warm golden light reflecting off the temple and river creates one of Bangkok’s most unforgettable scenes. Overnight in Bangkok.
Day 3: Floating Market, Canals & Jim Thompson House
After breakfast, depart for a full-day excursion into Thailand’s famous canal countryside. Visit the colourful Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, where wooden boats piled high with tropical fruits, flowers, local sweets, noodles, and souvenirs navigate narrow waterways in a vibrant display of traditional Thai commerce.
Continue to the fascinating Maeklong Railway Market, one of Thailand’s most unusual attractions, where market stalls are set directly along active railway tracks and vendors swiftly pull back awnings and merchandise as trains pass through the centre of the market.
Return to Bangkok and visit the Jim Thompson House, a beautifully preserved collection of traditional teakwood Thai homes once owned by the American entrepreneur who helped revive Thailand’s silk industry. The residence houses an outstanding collection of Asian art, antiques, and traditional architecture surrounded by tropical gardens.
In the evening, experience Bangkok from the water aboard a traditional long-tail boat through the city’s hidden canals. Away from the skyscrapers and highways, discover a quieter side of Bangkok with wooden stilt houses, small temples, riverside communities, floating kitchens, and local life unfolding along the waterways. Overnight in Bangkok.
Day 4: Chatuchak Market, Chinatown & Muay Thai
After breakfast, visit the legendary Chatuchak Weekend Market, one of the world’s largest outdoor markets with thousands of stalls spread across dozens of sections. The market offers everything imaginable – antiques, handcrafted ceramics, silk, fashion, home décor, artwork, tropical plants, vintage collectibles, and endless Thai street food. The scale and atmosphere make it one of Bangkok’s most unforgettable shopping experiences.
In the afternoon, explore Yaowarat Chinatown, one of the most atmospheric and energetic districts in Bangkok. Narrow streets packed with gold shops, herbal medicine stores, Chinese temples, neon signs, and sizzling street food stalls create one of Asia’s great culinary experiences. Sample local favourites including roasted duck, seafood, dim sum, mango sticky rice, and traditional Thai-Chinese desserts.
In the evening, experience the electrifying atmosphere of Muay Thai boxing at Lumpinee Stadium – Thailand’s most prestigious Muay Thai venue. Witness the ceremonial rituals, live traditional music, and extraordinary athletic skill of Thailand’s national sport in an atmosphere unlike any other sporting event in the world. Later, enjoy panoramic night views of Bangkok from one of the city’s iconic rooftop bars before returning to the hotel. Overnight in Bangkok.
Day 5: Golden Mount & Departure
After breakfast, visit Wat Saket, better known as the Golden Mount – one of Bangkok’s oldest and most atmospheric temples. Climb the winding staircase to the golden chedi at the summit for panoramic views across Bangkok’s old city, temple rooftops, canals, and skyline. The peaceful hilltop setting provides a final glimpse into the spiritual heart of the city.
Return to the hotel and check out before transferring to Suvarnabhumi International Airport for your onward flight home.
Depart Thailand carrying unforgettable memories of Bangkok’s golden temples, floating markets, riverside life, vibrant street culture, and extraordinary energy.
