New Zealand, with its capital Wellington, uses the New Zealand Dollar (NZD) and primarily speaks English. Located in the Southern Hemisphere, it offers opposite seasons to many countries. December to February is summer with long days ideal for hiking. June to August brings winter, perfect for skiing in Queenstown and Wanaka. March to May showcases stunning autumn foliage across the country.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival Christchurch
Upon arrival you will be met by our local representative in the Arrival Hall. Transfer to hotel.
Day 2 – Tram & Punting on the Avon Combo
After breakfast, take the Christchurch Tram around the city’s must-see attractions including New Regent Street, Riverside Market, Avon River, Canterbury Museum, and Botanical Gardens – with live commentary from a local guide. Then enjoy an Edwardian-attired punter’s classic punt ride along the Avon River past trailing willows and the leafy Botanic Gardens on a 30-minute shared ride.
Day 3 – Kaikoura Whale Watching Flight & Drive to Blenheim
After breakfast, collect your Premium SUV. Take a 30-minute helicopter flight above Kaikoura’s deep-sea canyon searching for the magnificent Sperm Whale, with breathtaking views of the coastline and Seaward Kaikoura mountain range. Watch for NZ Fur Seals and Hector’s Dolphins on return. Continue to Blenheim through rolling vineyards and coastal vistas.
Day 4 – Deluxe Full Day Private Driving Wine Tour
After breakfast, join the Explore Marlborough vehicle for a Deluxe Full Day Private Driving Wine Tour visiting 5 premium Marlborough wineries, including a wine experience at one of them. Lunch at Saint Clair is included. Tour includes expert commentary on the wines, wineries, history and geography of New Zealand’s largest wine region. Approximately 6.5 hours.
Day 5 – Blenheim
After breakfast, day free for leisure.
Day 6 – Scenic Drive to Franz Josef
Check out and begin the stunning drive across the South Island towards Franz Josef. Travel through mountain passes, glacial rivers and lush rainforests before reaching the West Coast. Check in and unwind amidst tranquil alpine scenery.
Day 7 – Franz Josef
After breakfast, day free for leisure.
Day 8 – Heli Hike Franz Josef – Queenstown
After breakfast, proceed for the Heli Hike. Then drive to Queenstown and check in.
Day 9 – Milford Sound Fly | Cruise | Fly with Lunch
After breakfast, enjoy panoramic views of the Dart-Rees Valley, Mt. Aspiring National Park, the Tasman Sea, and Fiordland National Park by air. Land at Milford Sound Airport at the foot of Mitre Peak (1,692m), then cruise towards the Tasman Sea past towering waterfalls, feeling the power of Stirling Falls. Return via a different flight path to Queenstown.
Day 10 – Shotover Jet Boat
After breakfast, join the Shotover Jet for the world’s most exciting jet boat ride through the spectacular Shotover River Canyons, with famous full 360-degree spins. Approximately 1.5 hours.
Day 11 – Wanaka Day Tour
After breakfast, explore Wanaka – a charming town on the shores of Lake Wanaka offering outdoor adventure and relaxation with must-visit spots including Lake Wanaka, Mount Aspiring National Park, and the Wanaka River.
Day 12 – Queenstown
After breakfast, day free for leisure.
Day 13 – Queenstown – Rotorua – Te Po Evening Experience
After breakfast, check out and fly from Queenstown. Collect your car and drive to Rotorua. Check in and spend the evening at Te Po – Te Puia’s world-famous hangi buffet dinner served in Pataka Kai Restaurant, followed by a cultural performance including pohiri, waiata, moteatea, poi and haka in the beautifully carved meeting house. The evening concludes with hot chocolate and steamed pudding beside the illuminated geyser terrace. Minimum 3 hours.
Day 14 – Hell’s Gate & Starlight Gourmet Kayak Tour
After breakfast, visit Hell’s Gate – Rotorua’s most active geothermal reserve, used for Maori wellness for over 700 years, featuring mineral-rich geothermal mud and sulphurous waters. In the evening, kayak across Lake Rotoiti to a hidden Glowworm cave, visiting the exclusive Manupirua Hot Pools accessible only by water, enjoying a freshly cooked BBQ dinner under the stars.
Day 15 – Redwood Treewalk & Mount Tarawera/Waimangu Volcanic Valley
After breakfast, walk the award-winning Redwoods Treewalk – 28 suspended bridges and 27 platforms creating 700 metres of treetop experience. Then take a spectacular floatplane adventure over the 15km volcanic rift line of Mount Tarawera and the world’s youngest geothermal park, Waimangu Volcanic Valley, with views of Steaming Cliffs, geysers and vibrant mineral pools.
Day 16 – Rotorua – Hobbiton Movie Set – Taupo
Drive from Rotorua to the Hobbiton Movie Set for a fully guided walking tour through the 12-acre Shire – past Bag End, inside a Hobbit Hole on Bagshot Row, and into the world-famous Green Dragon Inn for an exclusive Hobbit Southfarthing beverage. Continue to Taupo for your overnight stay.
Day 17 – Taupo
After breakfast, day free for leisure.
Day 18 – Taupo
After breakfast, day free for leisure.
Day 19 – Waitomo Glowworm Caves & Drive to Auckland
Check out and drive north to the Waitomo Caves for an unforgettable boat ride past thousands of twinkling glowworms. Continue to Auckland and check in for your final nights in New Zealand.
Day 20 – The Gourmet Food & Wine Tour (Waiheke Island)
After breakfast, drop your car at the city centre/airport and take a ferry to Waiheke Island. Visit three vineyards with gourmet tastes including oysters from Te Matuku Bay, Waiheke olive oil and Waiheke honey. Enjoy a family-style lunch at the third vineyard overlooking the vines. Explore Oneroa Village and Oneroa Beach before returning to Auckland.
Day 21 – Auckland Airport
After breakfast, transfer to Auckland Airport for your flight back home.
